What a stunning piece this is! So many people reached out to ask what it is, and the truth is, I'm not actually sure. The pattern is very reminiscent of the WW1 Coastal Artillery jumpers but I don't think it's quite that old. As a best educated guess, I'd say this was made in the 1920s-30s, possibly as a private purchase military piece or maybe just as a piece of workwear. The style of denim is exactly that seen on military denim from the 1930s, and it featured laurel leaf buttons, which were is use from the 1930s. It's got a lovely chin strap, and selvedge denim in each of the pockets as well as in the throat. I may not know exactly what this is, but honestly this piece feel pretty unique, and it's certainly one of the best pieces of denim that I've come across.
Condition
Used but excellent, no damage. The colour is faded but still strong. A few paint splashed here and there.
