Quite simply one of the best jackets ever made, and here in one of its earliest and the best iteration! The Trialmaster was first introduced in 1958 - or at least thats the earliest mention of it in the British press, and labeled as 'new' - and quickly became the staple jacket for the explosion in popularity of motorcycling in postwar Britain. Worn on the backs of everyone from Che Guevara to the 59 Club, the Trailmaster was the jacket of choice for a generation of bikers!
And what an example this is, featuring the best of all the early design details including the chequered flag label, fully working Lightning zippers, and Newey studs throughout. But what really makes this standout is the period patches. A beautiful array of patches and badges that show this was used well into the 1980s. These are all 100% original, and every piece of salt on this is exactly as it was found! This is a proper gentleman's jacket.
Condition
This is in beautiful used Belstaff condition, and I've not touched it straight out of the garage from which she came... I know some of you like them this way! There is some light damage throughout, holes in the sleeves, pockets and lining. The only repair I've made is to two of the metal press studs that needed some reeinforcement. As can be seen from the photos (and the slight gasoline smell), this jacket is a little on the dirty side. If the new owner would like, I'm happy to give it a bit of a clean before I send it out, but in my humble opinion, patina like this is far too good to waste!
