You all know how much I love a test pilot jacket, and this is no different. From what I understand, when Boeing started testing the 767 in 1981, they tested with the first 6 airframe built. The first flight under the company test pilots Tommy Edmonds, Lew Wallick, and John Brit was largely uneventful, and the 767 would go on to be one of the most successful aircraft families ever.
These jackets were worn by the test crew - I've included some images of former Boeing Chief Test Pilot Lew Wallick wearing his in 1984, and again at a press conference in 2004. This particular example is named to Leigh Johnson, TWA pilot and former Aeronautical Engineer at Boeing who would go on to be an Air Crash Investigator. Beautiful strong colours and hand stitched patches, this really is a stunning jacket.
