The beautiful British Army Windproof Smock in the highly coveted brushstroke camouflage colourway. Introduced in the later part of the war, these smocks would see extensive use with infantry across Northern Europe, and again in Korea. Many would make their way to the French in Indochine, and they would become a mainstay of British special forces well into the 70s.

The vast majority of these that you come across are the pullover WW2 smocks, of which many thousands were made. However the in early 60s, continued use of the smocks by British special forces led to a small batches of them being made in both a windproof camouflage and a green gaberdine. This is a great example of the former. The key differences with the earlier smocks are a factory installed Aero zipper, and a distinct pink hue to the camouflage - see the second photo for a comparison with the earlier pattern.

Condition

This is in amazing condition, no flaws or damage whatsoever. It is missing the tag, but is only slightly broader than a size 1 I have in my archive, so I would say this is a size 2.

Size

  • Missing the tag, but I would say size 2. Fits like a medium
  • Pit to pit 26"
  • Shoulder to shoulder 23.5"
  • Shoulder to cuff 18.5 (they have very board shoulders)
  • Collar to hem 26"
