First issued in 1942, this pattern of lightweight scarf was designed to fit over the head and shoulders and act as a camouflage aid. When not being used, they would find use a a warm scarf, worn around the neck! So successfully was this design that they're still worn, I was issued on in the cadets in around 2000! I believe this example is British army (similar patterns were used by French and Belgians) and is from the postwar period.
Condition
Used but solid, there are a few small holes, but the knotted designs will stop them getting larger.
