Founded in Detroit in 1889 by Hamilton Carhartt, long before being today's fashion giant, it was a classic American workwear brand. Throughtout the early and mid 20th century, the brand would provide it's blue collar worker audience with the denim and duck canvas clothing needed for work in factories, railroads and fields. Now incredibly popular with the vintage denim market, the brand and it's railcar tag are amongst the most sought-after vintage pieces. This shirt, based on the tag, dates from the late 1950s to early 60s, and i've only ever seen a small handful of these around. It's patched to and employee of Grand Prize beer, a heritage beer brand, founded in 1933 in Houston Texas.
