Introduced in 1943/44 this pattern of denim dungaree is part of the archetypal WW2 USN working uniform. They were made with a loose fit through the leg so they could be removed quickly in water and used as an improvised floatation device. This was combined with lightweight denim to help them dry quickly, though this has meant many have been lost to time or torn and repaired.
This particular pair are from a August 1944 contract, feature metal donut button fly, and are completely unworn and mint,
