One of the most enduring items of clothing from WW2. Issued to USAAF ground crews, but were so well liked they would be worn by practically anyone who could get their hands on one. This particular example is named to a Robert F. Hutchinson, who I've matched to both the name and the laundry number, as well as being a long-time resident of Indiana where this hat was found. Robert served with the Army from 1943, would spend his later career as a draftsman and passed in 2005. More info available here and here.
