The Mil-Sub of the sunglasses world, and known as the rarest Ray Bans ever made. These glasses were specially made for and issued to US service men & women staying in Antarctica with Operation Deep Freeze. Whilst at first they look like aviators, there are a number of major differences. First the double gradient density lenses, specially made for protection against sun-blindness, with a reflective coating to the top and bottom of the lense, creating a 'striped' effect in the mirroring. Secondly and unique faceguard on the bottom of the lense to stop the frame from touching the wearer's face, and finally for the same reason, the plastic coated arms.

This example came from a US Navy A3 Skyhawk pilot - Unfortunately I don't have more info than this. If was a very tough decision to sell these and an even tough decision chosing which of the two pairs I have to keep.

Condition

These are clearly used, but solid condition. There are some light scratches to the mirroring layer, but it does not effect the glass or viewing. There is a little light flaking to the gold plating on the frames. Comes with original case and cloth.
