There is really only one problem with this pattern of Parka... When you first try it on, you'll suddenly realise that all other jackets that you've ever owned are not as good as you thought they were. These really are the best garment ever made. You can see quality throughout, from the chunky zips, to the wooden toggles, fur rimmed hood and thick ventile fabric. So much has been said about this pattern, and I won't repeat much. The pattern was developed in 1951 as the cold war really cooled. The British, alongside their Nato partners would increasingly see the arctic regions as the frontline, and thus prepared themselves accordingly. This timeless jacket would be used well into the 90s, a lifespan of nearly 50 years and testament to their durability, quality and design.
Condition:
Some items I get have been heavily worn and look terrible, this is the opposite, years of wear have left this beautiful parka with mind-blowing patina, and fading worthy of the finest clothing archives. She arrived with me in quite the mess. I've had to clean up with cuffs which had fallen apart, insert a small repair into the belt loop (using original fabric salvaged from the cuffs so it's unnoticeable), and put a repair into the lining. But she's now in solid shape. With a little care and attention, this wonderful piece will have years left to live. Expect fading/wear/patina/fades/paint throughout.
