The term 'Mountain Rescue' gets thrown around a lot, often referring to the 1951 Mk1 Cold Weather Parka, or the later orange Cadet Smocks, even to the Blacks of Greenock civilian smock. And whilst these may have found their way to the RAF Mountain Rescue teams, they were not made for this purpose. That's where this smock is both different and very very rare! This smock, likely made in the late 60s/early 70s was made specifically for RAF Mountain Rescue, bearing both the name on the tag, and an RAF 22G stores code. This is a cut above the standard orange smock, being both double layered, with a canvas orange outer, and a dark green ventile inner. Not necessarily designed to be reversible, this could be worn green side out if needed. A very basic and utilitarian design, with all the hallmarks of great British clothing. A solid Lightning zipper, nylon ties to the hood and waist, and a crotch strap to stop the piece from riding up when climbing.

Condition

Absolutely mint, a few light marks but looks largely unworn.
