Hailing from Galesburg Illinois, the Gross company was founded in 1901 to manufacture overalls for the growing rail industry, and was eventually sold to Carhartt in the 1970s. The particular piece, a wonderful chore jacket was made in the late 40s to early 50s, and comes in beautiful worn condition. A load of wonderful details including a woven tag, beautiful enamel inlaid branded buttons, and my personal favourite are the red bartacks and buttons holes which have faded to pink. It features watch pocket, a featured that large disappeared in the early 50s as wristwatches became more popular.
Condition
Used and faded but solid condition. I've invisibly repaired a couple of popped seams on the shoulders and cuffs. Otherwise a little fraying to the cuffs is the only damage.
