Issued in the very late part of WW2, and seemingly only to crews in the pacific - I've certainly only ever seen them being used by B-29 crews - these vest would contain a multitude of survival items that would help if the aircraft had to ditch. Included with this would be the C1 survival cap that I've listed separately. This is a great example of the rare first pattern easily distinguished with its angled upper chest pockets. These were the only type used in WW2, with the later versions seeing use in Korea and on into Vietnam.
