My god what a stunning piece of denim, and by one of the most desirable denim brands on the market, this is a wonderful 1940s Sweet-Orr chore jacket. A classic five pocket style, with four buttons and double stitching down the main seems, all tell-tale signs of wartime manufacturing limitations. Founded in 1971 in Wappingers Falls - only an hour from my new house and a town I've been through many times - Sweet-Orr actually pre-dated Levis by a few years, and remains one of the oldest clothing brands in the US.
This jacket is full of wonderful details. The patina is simply amazing, and rather unique with some truly mind-boggling patterns in the fades/wear. Sweet-Orr branded from buttons and 'ace-of-spade' cuff buttons. The top left pocket is specifically designed for a pocket watch (my pocket watch is not included - it's broken anyway!) as shown in the images. A spectacular piece worthy of the finest collections and archives.
Condition
Well used but solid. Patina throughout. Some wear to the cuffs and lower pockets. I removed a crappy stick-on repair from one cuff, but left the same stick-on piece on the inside. I've also repaired one seam securing the inner pocket.
