Along with the Big Yank and Roomy Richard, this is one of the devilishly hard-to-find asymmetric pocket shirt designs that appears in the 30s & 40s. Patented in 1937, this design seems to have only had a short shelf life - likely the demand for simplicity in production during the war put an end to it. Uncle Sam was a brand of Salant & Salant Inc of NYC, founded in the very late part of the 19th Century. It grew dramatically during WW1 and continued producing shirts for the military in WW2 (i've had deadstock USN chambrays made by them) and on into the 70s. You can read more about them over on Rite Stuff's site.
Condition
Used but mint, a little light discolouration around the collar, but great strong blue and no damage at all. Hard to beat.
