Starting during the war, newly minted paratroopers would take their silver jump wing, remove the pinback, and attached the wing to a heavy bracelet. Often these would be given to sweethearts as gifts, or used as secondary ID bracelets to supplement dogtags. This practise would continue after the war. This particular example was likely made in Japan during the occupation period for a member of the 11th Airborne. The brass plated wing is a Japanese made example from between 1945-49.
