The denim fatigue uniform was replaced in 1941 by the now ubiquitous HBT, but that was not the last use of these pieces. Many German and Italian prisoners of war were transported to the US to work as farmhands or as other forms of manual labour. These POWs were issued with obsolete uniforms, including many of the old denim jumpers, coveralls and caps. These caps were made by cutting down the denim daisy mae, adding a peak and then being stamped with POW and often with other numbers. The pieces are much harded to find than the classic daisy mae. I love the one of these I keep in my collection.
