Whilst frogskin camo is commonly associated with the Marine Corps in the pacific, it's less well know that it was also tested by the US Army in Europe. There are a number of photos of these sets being used by the Army in Normandy. There is an apocryphal story that it was withdrawn quickly due to the similarity to German camo and ensuing friendly fire incidents, but this seem unfounded. Once worn out, as would happen quickly in combat, these were simply replaced with olive drab. These are similar in appearance to the classic thigh pocket army pants, but actually are substantially different in design. They feature thigh pockets with coverings over the buttons, gussets both under the crotch and behind the fly and double layered knees. Buttons around the waist attest to the use of suspenders. Finally, whilst these are double sided frogskin, it's clear these were only designed to be worn with the green side facing out.
Condition:
These are in good solid condition, though there is some fading to the camo throughout. There are a couple of small holes on the butt, and ankle, and a few light flecks of paint.
