Whilst the early 50s USAF helmet bags are certainly more popular, these US Navy bags, issued along with the APH-5 helmet are worthy of recognition. These are made from a much lighter and softer fleece material, and given this they are often much pretty destroyed. This particular example comes from a MIL-J-19666 (AER) contract, which puts it into the latter part of the 1950s. It features a twin pull Conmar zipper, woven label and internal pocket. The baseplate is named to a 'Nickson'.
