The classic US Navy flight jacket, the G1. This style evolved from the WW2 era M422A and would be worn through to the late 80s. This particular example is from a 1958 LW Foster contract, and looks to have been worn throughout the early 1960s. The USS Coral Sea patch on the sleeve I believe dates from a 1960 Far East deployment, and this aligns with the 1961 dated Navy Aviation 50th Anniversary patch. At the time VA-52 were flying Skyraiders. There is far more research to be done on both the wearer and the history of this jacket, but I leave that to the new owner.

Condition

This jacket is in good condition, shows signs of wear, but would still be solid and wearable. The leather and patches are amazing, the cuffs look to have been period replaced, and there is one hole in the waistband. The lining has one hole near the waist, and has pulled away from the collar, but this shouldn't cause further problems as it's held in place by the hanger tab.
