The classic US Navy flight jacket, the G1. This style evolved from the WW2 era M422A and would be worn through to the late 80s. This particular example is from a 1963 contract made by Irvin B Forster Sportwear. It's named and patched to Commander Richard P McHugh, a three war veteran who joined the Navy around 1942. I have records of him as am Aviation Cadet in December 42. I don't have any detail on his WW2 service, but he says in the Navy postwar, going on to fly Skyraiders with VA-196, being stationed with them on USS Lexington - I have included some images of him from Lexington's cruise book, and the patch on both sleeves of the jacket match this. He would later go on to serve as commander of VAW-33 The Iron Men (patches on the chest), flying Carrier Early Air Warning Skyraiders.
Condition
This jacket is in good condition, shows signs of wear, but is still very solid and wearable. The knits are in good shape and i've reset an old repair to the cuffs, zipper works well and lining is perfect. The original mouton is in good shape. The only issue of note is a few small scuffs and marks to the leather.
