Wow, what an epic piece this is! The CPO shirt is one of the most classic pieces of military clothing, but this one is just special. The shirt itself of the late 1930s - pre-war varieties, easy distinguishable with the woven label on the collar. These are definitely hard to find in good condition, but let's face it, it's the embroidery that really makes this sing. The US has a presence, largely led by the Marines in China from 1945 until 1949, but these marines would have been supported by a sizeable contingent of US Navy ships. Around these Americans grew a cottage industry customising garments, often jackets or tailored crackerjack jumpers. There are a few of these pieces around, but almost always destroyed or in a tiny size. This example is literally flawless. Beautifully hand embroidered to back, pocket and named, this is one of the finest pieces from that period that I've ever seen. The bright bright colouring and attention to detail is magnificent, this really should be framed as a piece of art!

Condition

Flawless. The only issues I can spot are some stitch marks and loose thread from where the pocket was removed for the emboidery to be done and then restitched. It is impossible to find another in better condition.
