One of the most popular and iconic pieces of military clothing ever made, and I'm always happy when I can find them for the store. The US Navy adopted denim as part of its uniform in 1901, and would make numerous garments in this most popular of fabrics, but few are as enduring as the shawl neck. Worn during WW2 and after, these garments would come to represent the enlisted sailor, and be worn both whilst working and on shore.
This particular example comes complete with amazing stencils to the reverse. The large "IRISH' is easy to read, less so is the ENID OKLAHOMA across the top in white, and the small map of Oklahoma at the bottom.
