A great example of a WW2 deck jacket complete with artwork to the back. This example, whilst missing its tag is both a rare large size, and comes with its original Conmar zipper making it a 1944 manufacturing date. The artwork to the back is nice example of a Grumman JF2 Duck with a rating patch beneath from a Chief Avaition Pilot. The rating itself with gold straightened wings & red chevrons is correct for an enlisted pilot during WW2, and enlisted pilots typically served in roles like patrol aircraft including the Duck. The rating appears to be painted onto Canvas and glued to the jacket. The artwork looks to be done on oil and I suspect was painted in the early postwar period - likely for a Veteran. It's nicely done with good details, but I haven't been able to trace the tail number or even the paint scheme to further research. It’s a beautiful jacket with a great look and in a good size.
Condition
This is in solid vintage condition. There is some fur loss and damage around the collar, but otherwise she's solid. The OG zipper works well. It's missing the bottom 2 buttons but I can supply a couple of closely matching replacements and attach them should the new owner wish.
