Amongst the rarest of the jackets that I've had, and my god do I wish this fit me! If anyone reading this has another NAF1168 (of any variety) I'll happily this trade for it!
These are somewhat enigmatic, and whilst I do know that were ordered by the Naval Aircraft Factory (NAF) for groundcrews, I don't know much about exact dates. This one certainly seems to have been a transitional pieces from/to the equally rare blue N1, it features blue jungle cloth pockets, and the same black piping around the neck tie found on the blue versions. What clearly makes this stand out from the crowd is the US NAVY stencil across the back, commonly found on the blue decks, this only appeared on the NAF khaki jackets, making this a very rare bird indeed.
Bar missing its tag, this is great. The zip is flawless, the jungle cloth is perfect, the alpaca lining is thick feels like it hasn't been worn at all. The stencil is complete with just a little flaking of the paint on the U. There is a brush of grey paint to one arm, and a little fading to the khaki shell.
A truly exceptional example of a truly rare jacket.
