This has to be up there with the best G1 Jackets that I've ever come across. It's got it all, great patches, great history and literally perfect condition. Bruce Kerr Lloyd Jr entered the US Naval academy in July 1936, graduating in 1940. He applied for Naval Flight School earning his wings in 1942. During the war he would serve overseas from Dec 1941 - Sept 42, and again from Jan 44 - Feb 45, in the intervening time he would spend some time as an instructor. Postwar Bruce would stay in the Navy, first attending MIT and then training as test pilot. One his route to officer, he would be assigned Commander of VC-8 (Composite Squadron 8), XO of the carrier USS Roosevelt, and finally Commander of Patuxent River, the Naval Air Test Centre. His claim to fame would be setting a helicopter speed record in a HSS-2 in December 1961. On retiring from the Navy in 1963 he would join Boeing in their Vertol division.
This jacket really tells the story of his career from the early to mid 1950s including patches for his time with VC-8, USS Roosevelt, and his time as test pilot. I would actually believe, given the jacket is from a 1961 contract, this was put together for him shortly before retirement, and was given as a gift. It's been kept in literally perfect condition.
Condition
Absolutely perfect, the fur is exactly per the deadstock jackets i've had, the cuffs, zipper etc all absolutely perfect. It's the best you could possibly hope to find in a G1.
