Another classic deck jacket, and actually becoming remarkably hard to find in good condition! These replaced the WW2 era N4 olive deck jackets and retain a lot of the same design, but updated with a much more comfortable lining. These would be worn as standard temperate to cold weather outers during the early 60s. This particular example named to Commander David Randall Hinkle, a long time Submariner who joined the Navy in 1948, and spent his time with the Submarine Development Force in the late 1960s before taking command of USS Pargo from 1969-73. He wrote a number of books on the subject and continued to work with submersibles when he retired from then Navy. You can read more about him here.
The jacket itself is dated 1966, and comes with a rather wonderful Submarine Development Group patch to the chest.
Condition
Used but good. Some fading to the shell, and a little wear to the collar, but otherwise great.
