Whilst the US Navy officially stopped issuing denim jackets after the war, they were still a very popular item amongst sailors, and there are numerous different variations of private purchase pieces the were used into the 1960s. This is a beauty of an example.
This piece was made in Japan in the early-mid 60s. The denim shows selvedge down the inside of the zipper placket, and the hand embroidered reverse is common of the type found in Japan and Korea. The Talon zipper works perfectly and it features beautifully hand-stitched patches on the chest
This is in beautiful condition. There are a couple of marks on the front, but otherwise the denim is strong and dark in colour, no holes or damage etc.
