A beautiful and very rare example of an early WW1/1920s US Navy watch cap, notable for having both a pinch top, and a large band of contrasting weave around the cuff. I'm only guessing here, but it's mentioned in the 1917 uniform regs that a 4" cuff was required on a watch cap, so that might provide some insight on why this was done.
Condition
Good condition, but not perfect. A few small moth nips and holes.
Size:
- On the smaller side for a watch cap
- Expands to cover my 7 3/8 head, but it's snug
