So the story goes (and I could be wrong here), these hbt shirts were made in very limited numbers for Navy personal serving in combat, Seabee Engineers or Medical Corpmen etc. Whilst very similar to their army counterparts, these feature a pocket that sits much lower, almost over the belly, the classic USN wreath donut buttons, and a pleated back. It was also missing the gasflap that is commonly removed on army examples. This particular example is tagged NXSX 22571, a contract dating to Jan 1943.
