Having been born and raised in the UK, I can confirm that it can be bloody cold if you're stood outside all day, let alone if you were out all day and night fixing the engines of aircraft. The USAAF mechanics are quite frankly unsung heroes, they worked night and day, in all weather conditions to maintain and repair aircraft and get them prepared and ready for the next's days operations. To help them in this task the USAAF issued them with their own cold weather gear, including these caps. So popular were they, they would not only be used by aircrew, but also found their way into the hands of paratroopers and beyond.

This is in absolutely perfect deadstock condition, completely flawless and perfect.
