The t-shirt had always been worn as an under garment, but during WW1 soldiers would write their unit names on them, and the modern printed t-shirt was born! This continued in WW2, when services or units would have t-shirts printed to build 'espirt de corps'. This is a great example marked up to represent France Field in Panama where the USAAF would have a base throughout the war.
Condition
For an 80 year old t-shirt this is in great shape. There is a little light staining. The cotton is soft, there are a few small holes scattered here and there. Honestly I can't recommend this for regular wear, but she can likely be worn on special occasions.
