What an absolutely killer piece! In the early postwar period the USAF would wholesale adopt the helmet as part of the standard flightgear. The first issued helmet, the P-1 was introduced in 1948 and did not include a standardised helmet, these would come later. Pilot would therefor create their own custom bags. The example is such, a beautifully custom made back for a pilot with the 3555th Combat Crew Training Wing, who, based out of Perrin AFB trained pilots on the newly introduced F-86 Sabre.
Condition
Amazing shape! I've replaced a broken zipper with a deadstock Talon which works like a charm and the print work is amazing!
