One of the most in-demand vintage items, and one of the hardest to find. These awesome hats were initially developed as as part of the survival vest kit toward the end of the war, and this pattern would go on to be used into the 90s. This particular example is from the post-Vietnam era, and again would have been part of a pilot's survival kit flying over the middle east.
The theory was they could be worn green side out when a pilot had been shot down in enemy territory, and when a rescue chopper approached it could be switched to orange to increase visibility and make it easier for the rescue team to spot!
