Initially established as the 6990th Security Squadron in 1967, and changed to the 6990th Electronic Security Group in 1971, these guys were based out of Kadena AFB in Japan flying RC-135s in support of combat ops in Vietnam. Their name would change again in 1975 to the 6990th Electronic Security Squadron, so that gives us a very tight manufacturing date for this between 71-74. Likely this was made in Okinawa with a very high quality workmanship to the hand-stitched direct embroidery on the reverse. This particular example is made of a lightweight double layered nylon with a period correct YKK zipper.
Condition
