These shirts were initially introduced in the very late-war to early post-war era, initially in an olive green, then changing to blue around 1950. Part of a two piece shirt and pants set, there were designed to be worn as an additional layer of insulation under a heavy flying suit for extreme cold weather flying duties. These typically have been heavily, worn, washed and shrunk to finding a clean one is a treat.
