The N1 deck jacket, a classic, and for most people (given their timeless cool, reasonable availability & pricing) a first piece of proper vintage to add to the wardrobe - I know my first N1 was amongst the first pieces I had. But not all N1s are created equal, the classic jacket was in use with the US Navy from early 1943 through to the early 60s, and this is a very hard to find example of the first pattern. Made in 1943 by Popular Mfg Co, New York, NY.

Though it's not the jacket that stands out on this, but the rare USMC stencil and naming. I've done a little research on the name and I believe this belonged to Arnold J Erickson, who muster rolls show served with the Navy in WW2 and went on to serve as a Technical Sergeant with the Marine Corps in Korea with Marine Attack Squadron 332, the famous Tophatters. This beautiful piece is a real been-there jacket, complete with just enough salt.

Condition

Used but solid. Fading and marks throughout including some great oil honey-combs on the sleeves! Zipper is slight corroded but working well. One button hole is frayed. Some wearing to the lining with bald patches near the collar and pockets.
