This beautiful silk scarf was likely printed for Marine Attack Squadron 332 pilots during a trip to Japan, using the same hand printing techniques that had developed over hundreds of years of making kimonos. Soft and incredibly comfortable, these scarves were worn by pilots in air combat to prevent chafing whilst constantly turning their heads to check for enemy aircraft behind them.
