Made of the classic HBT material, the monkey pants was developed and introduced toward the tail end of the pacific war. My research seems to suggest they saw limited use in Okinawa, but would be used extensively in Korea, and by the French in Indochine. The front on profile is similar in appearance to the classic US Army pants, but the defining feature is the pocket on the reverse, which was designed to carry a waterproof incase of rain, and as a pillow to sit on.

Condition:

These are deadstock, and still seem to be folded as they were in the factory. However the storage must have been humid as the buttons have slightly corroded, and left rust marks on the fly. Given the unused nature of the item, I've not tried to clean these, but it looks like it'll come out fine. The ankle strings are still attached to the belt loops.

Size:

  • Tagged a 38, however fit like a modern 34/36
  • Waist 17.5"
  • Inside leg 29.5"
  • Overall length 43
