As the war in Vietnam intensified the peace movement grew in opposition to it, but for every action there is a reaction, and when peace symbols became commonplace amongst the grunts in country, a pro-war movement also grew. These are a far harder to find, and less well know pendants from that pro-war movement. I've heard in written the WAR stands for 'We Are Right', but I'm unsure of the exact history. They're very simply made, done in-country from pot-metal in sand-casts etc. These can be seen being worn by soldiers, particularly amongst Special Forces.
This example came from the estate of George Aurel Milika, who served with 101st Airborne Division, 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry, E Company. He was killed in October 1970 whilst stationed at Firebase Rakkasan in northeast of Hue.
Condition
Used but very good. The O-ring is a little thin as many of these are - likely a result of poor casting - so I've hung it between the A and the outer band on a nice soft deerskin lace in keeping with the period.
