One of the things I love about hunting for workwear is the sheer variety in the brands and how there is always a new one to discover. Big Dam was brand name used by Irwin Philips of keokuk, Iowa. Originally founded as a dry good store, the brand would start manufacturing overalls around the 1880s, and seems to have done so until the mid 1950s (after which I can find any adverts). This jacket, with the all important chin strap, very likely dates in the 1930s. This comes with four pockets, including one pocket-watch pocket. The buttons are unbrande seam triple stitched with raglan construction to the sleeves.
Condition
Very nice condition. Some popped seams have been repaired very nicely but otherwise excellent. The only issue of note are three small knicks in the fabric on the back as shown. Some paint marks as shown.
