Introduced into service inn 1967 this was an early iteration of the ERDL pattern camouflage that would become the standard US camo pattern of the second half on Vietnam and on into the 1970s. This featured the 'green dominant' pattern (note the colour contrast against the brown dominant background) that wasn't wholly suited to use in Vietnam, with the bright green standing out against the brown tinged grasslands. These were soon replaced in service by the ripstop cotton version, and largely the brown colourway.
