Not as well know as it's bigger brother, these short versions of the peacoat were regulation for US Navy officers from 1913 throughout WW1. With only the two hand pockets, and the golden eagle buttons they're easily distinguished from the standard WW1 enlisted man coats. This particular example was made for an M. B. Caldwell by well know US Navy supplier Jacob Reed's Sons, a Philadelphia based department store who had long been a supplier of uniforms and equipment to naval officers. Dated 1917 this almost certainly saw action with the US Navy during WW1.

Condition

Used but solid. There is a little sunfading & discoloration, and wear to the lining, but otherwise its a great example. For reference, the large white patch was applied in the factory and was used to write names etc!
