US Navy 1942 Waltham FSSC-88-W-800 Watch

Whilst the A11 gets the glory, the same watch was also issued to other services. This is the much rarer US Navy version, the FSSC-88-W-800, which were issued to Naval Aviation crews. This example comes in worn shape, though has recently been fully serviced and is now running like a champion. The serial number 31,394,710 put manufacturing in 1942.

Condition

Well used with some wear across the case plated brass case. The dial and hands have a nice worn patina but are largely great. Keeping pretty good time, with +/1 30 secs on a timegrapher. I've checked it over 6 hours and it's lost 10/15 secs. Comes on a deadstock 1945 strap.

Please be mindful, this is a 80 year old watch and should be treated accordingly! It's unlikely to be waterproof, and I wouldn't wear it to do any strenuous activity or sports etc!
