Its this a stunner or what! This beautiful jacket was handmade in Tokyo during the Korean War for a member of the 17th Bomb Wing, a unit flying A-26 Invaders. The 17th Bomb Wing came into existence in May 1952 and would say in korea until the war ended in July 1953, so it's possible to date this pretty accurately. Whilst souvenir jackets, or sukajans are pretty common, finding the early Korean War military versions is pretty astronomically hard, so it's been a real pleasure having this on my mannequin at home all week!
Condition
This is in used but solid condition. There a couple of moth nips, but no major damage to the silk. The colours are still very strong, a little fading to the yellow but nothing significant. There is a little wearing to the silk on the black side as pictured. Overall a very solid wearable example of a very rare and very beautiful piece.
