As you all know, I love a good piece of camo, and there are very few pieces as iconic as the USMC P42 frogskin jacket. So hard to find have these become, that I believe this is the first I've ever had! This truly is the piece that carried the Marines' on their long march across the pacific. Developed and introduced early in the war, the P42 set was made from the newly introduced hbt camo, hand wearing cotton twill that was reversible allowing for use in different environments. These were built for war, an easy to produce simple garment, with a reversible body, and pockets front and back. This particular example has been further modified with the addition of a pocket on the left chest of the forest side, and a large poacher's poach to the back. Both of these pockets are made from shelter half. There is a distinct difference in the colour between the frogskin beneath these pockets, and the rest of the jacket, meaning the pockets have been there a long time, seemingly since the piece was new, so I'm leaning toward this being a theatre made modification, possibly by a sniper.

Condition

This is in well used shape but solid shape. There is fading to the hbt across the whole garment, with light discoloration and the odd tiny hole. It seems there has been a repair done to a popped seam across one shoulder. Overall a good, if slightly quirky, example of a rare piece of camo.
