So I'm kicking off my first real foray into the denim market with a beautiful and really rather rare chore jacket. Whitefield Overalls was a brand name of the Snow & Baker company of Whitefield New Hampshire. Established in 1885, S&B were specialists in making workwear, especially for the railroad industry. The brand wouldn't quite make it's 80th birthday when S&B closed in 1961. This particular jacket is from around the 1950s, but more importantly features the rather unique pocket layout from Whitefield that really makes it standout from the rest. The four pocket front, with two large vertical pockets aligned down the middle, and two waist pockets pulled off to the side, actually really remind me of the US Army denim jumper! It also featured a contrast colour pocket on the inside made from a different denim. It's a rare piece, with a beautiful look!
Condition
Used but excellent. No damage, bar some very light fraying to the ends of the cuffs. A good strong colour to the denim with only some light fading to the cuffs and hem.
